The matter has been brougbt to the attentiou of the authoritles and the nuisance ordcrod abated. Frederlck Krause, of Webster, feil from a porch last Sunday night and broke his left forearm about two inehes above the wrlst. Drs. John and S. W. Lee reduced the fracture. - Dexter Leader. A very pretty wedding occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Green last evening, when thelr daughter, Sadie Pay, jolned fortunes with Howard Schoñeld. The ceremony took place at 8 o'cIock and was performod by Rev. Wm. L. Palmer, assisted by Ilev. V. E. Wright, of Stockbridge. Rev. Yokom, of the M. E. chui-eh, has gone to Port ïïuron to attend conference. He does not expect to be retained here another year. He has served this charge four years, during which time he has thoroughly rebuilt tho church cdifice and made other improvements to the property, despitc a strong opposltion. - Manchester Enterprise. The Enterprise tells the folio wing story on two Manchester people: "A certaln home on Ann Arbor street was in a great commotion one night last week and it was all cauued iby the bold intrusión of a toad. The husband was awakened in tho depth of his slumber by an unearthly scream from his wife who told him Bomething had era wied on her face and she had brushed it off, and ducking her head and all under the bed clothes, insisted that her husband sally forth and investígate. The toad was found and unceremoniojsly fired, and after takirg a plll for his nerves, the man of tbe house again wnt to 8leep. An unusually large attendanco is now assured the Normal College. The Normal Conservatory also opens prosperously with an excellent corps of instructora and, under the directorship of Frederick H. Pease, promises greater success than has been enjoyed in any previous year. Herr Prof. Brueckner, of the Detroit Philharmonic String Quartet, will teach the violin, and Miss Owen is again retained as an instructor. - Commercial. The Sentinel tells us that the Normal lecture course will open Monday, Ootober 18, and consist of ten entertainments, given by Max Boudix, violin virtuoso; George W. Cable, the dialect writer; Georgo P. Servias, stereoptican lecturer; Booker T. Washington, the colored orator; Dr. John H. Barrows, the eclebrated authority on comparativo religions; Gertrude May Stein, contralto; Edwin D. Mead, student of municipal questions; Beatrico Horford, the E&glidh impersoDator ; the Sweedish Male Quartet; and tbe ever popular Normal College Choir. A short time ago the firm of Cody & Forbes, hardware dealers of Belleville, mlssed sevcral razors and revolvers from their show case. They employed a city detective to work up the case. Frlday evening he arrested Samuel Burns, residing near here, at New Boston, in th act of selling a new revolver. The revolver was poóitively identifled by the firm. Burns was takea to Detroit to await examination. - Sentinel. Albert Moorman and O. F. Westfali have leased the Occidental hotel ai Ypsilanti and after' re-fitting it will eonduct tbe establishment on a new and improved plan. Claude Hayraond one day last week started for this villagc with two young ladies in a covered buggy. While one of his fair companions was driving the horse shicd and the carriago was overturned spilling its surprised contents out upon the ground. The horse started off on his own hook, but was soon after caught in Goo. C. Lord's drivevvay to his barn. The only part of the buggy that was found with the auimal was the front wheels. Owing to his postoftice duties George Preston has rosigned tbc supervisorship of Grass Lake township and the board has appointed John W. Knight as his successor. - Grass Lake News. Crooks worked on Hudson poople during the street fair last week. Oae burglar entered the house of David Way and when Mr. Way wanted back his stolen proporty the burglar objected and tbreatened to shoot. Mr. Way was too quick, however, and brought the thief down with a bullet in his side. A ftiw more affair3 liko this would lessen the popularity of burglary. Let tho good work go on. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob ï. üofford, of Milan, celebrated thcir golden wedding last Thursday. Mr. Hofford is 77 years old while his wifo is 70. They came frora Hamilton, Ontario, 2(3 years ago and have lived near Milan ever sinco. Tho Standard says Chelsea Methodists are anxious for the return of Rav. J. I. Nickerson as thoir pastor and have sent a strong petition to their presiding eider asking that Mr. Nickerson be sent back. One of tho young hopefuls attonding the school near Cavanaugh Lake, has some queer ideas concerning national holidays. The teacher, having asked what great national holiday had passed since school clo3ed last spring, was rauoh astonished whea alittle üve-yearold answered eagerly, "Dutch Day." -
