Residents of the tenderlain district at Cantón, O., who investiga tedscreams saw a oolumn of flarnes in the reur yard of the home of YV'm. Depeyster and found Mrs. Depeyster's clothing1 was on fire. Before aid could be rendered she was dead, the clothing1 j?as jurned frorn her body and her flesh iteraUy roasted. The kitchen was covered with oil spots and frag-ments of a brokeu lamp were found in the ïonsü and yard. Depeyster, when lound, fave no explanation of what lad oecurred and was placed ander arrest on suspicionï of rnurder. Xeighbors say that the couple had ljeen quarrelinff all nig-ht, and it is charged that he attenipted the woman's life in ihe same marnier once before.
