Evening. Starlight shines through my open window.
It is quiet. I am still.
    Lila, stop that!
My rugged Moon hung proud upon the wall.
White chalk dust covered my hands.
Mommy, look what I made! Isn’t it pretty?
    Not again!
    How many times…!

But tonight it has no Moon.
    Momma, where did it go?
    All my life… My sky.
    Where did you put her?
    Shrouded in clouds.
    The Moon outside is full.
There is not a cloud in her sky.
    I watch, envious.
Daddy? Where did my Moon go?
The curtains sway in the wind.
    Is she coming back?
She floats right outside my window.
    Soars on invisible wings.
    Don’t leave me!
    I want to fly, too.
