Description

Mandali Exhibit

Mandali: circle, network, or connection – this is the central theme of the exhibit Mandali: India and the World curated by Mia Risberg and in partnership with the annual Rasa Festival, a yearly multi- disciplinary festival showcasing Indian Culture.

This video film of the exhibit will premiere at 7pm on AADL.TV.  The exhibit is curated by Mia Risberg, and features the work and practice of 10 contemporary artists with an Indian connection from various locations in the United States and India:

Dhruvi Acharya (Mumbai, India)
Soumya Netrabile (Oak Park, Illinois)
Sajeev Visweswaran (Ann Arbor, Michigan)
Chandrima Bhattacharrya (Santinketan, West Bengal, India)
Madhurima Ganguly (Ann Arbor, Michigan)
Caitlin Cartwright (Dayton, Ohio)
Charuka Arora (New Delhi, India)
Amelia Currier (Ortonville, Michigan)
Pallavi Singh (New Delhi, India)
Nirmal Raja (Milwaukee, Wisconsin)

A visual thread weaves through each of the artists’ work and tells the story of connection despite the environment of separation that has been created due to COVID-19, the lockdown, and even geographic distance.

The digital exhibit includes a video slideshow, brief artist talks, and a gallery of images. Mandali: India and the World can be viewed on aadl.tv and aadl.org/mandali.
