George S. Pingston
George S. Pingston, 59, a salesman who has lived in this area for the past 50 years, died suddenly Sunday morning at his home, 2643 Elmwood St., East Ann Arbor.
He was born Dec. 21, 1895, in Ingersoll, Canada, a son of Theodore and Alice Johnson Pingston. He came to this country as a child and lived in Detroit until 1905, when he moved to this area. He was with the Sinclair Refining Co. for 14 years prior to 1942, and since that time he has been a salesman for various firms. He was a member of the Erwin Prieskorn Post No. 46 of the American Legion, and was a veteran of World War I.
In 1917, he was married to Minnie Herr. She died in 1949. On Dec. 4, 1954, he was married to Mabel Lewis Cruse in Ann Arbor. She survives. Also surviving is a son, George of Delhi; two daughters, Mrs. Allen Schiller of Ann Arbor and Beatrice Pingston of Detroit; and two stepchildren, Bob L. Cruse of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Dwight Prichard of Lincoln Park. Other survivors are three brothers, Clarence of Detroit, Howard of Dexter and Harry of Dearborn; a sister, Mrs. John Ferguson of Detroit, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Staffan-Hildinger Funeral Home, with the Rev. Walter M. Brandt officiating. Burial will be in Webster Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
