Ann Arbor Pilot Flys High

Richard Hoseli of Ann Arbor was a member of the U.S. Precision Flight Team which took a fourth place team trophy at the Second World Championships of Precision Flight in Wels, Austria, recently. The U.S. team, making its second appearance in the competition, finished behind Sweden, Poland and Austria.

The U.S. team is sponsored by the National Pilots Association on a non-profit basis.

If you want something bad enough, you have to fight for it.

That is what Zuhal Ardan of Ann Arbor did Monday night outside the Sears Store in Briarwood when her purse was snatched.

She had just finished working in the store's fitting department and was walking out of the store when a man grabbed her purse. Zuhal, who is from Turkey, yelled at the suspect and followed in hot pursuit. The suspect was soon caught by two youths and taken into custody.

Zuhal was a bit out of breath, but happy.

The U-M International Center, 603 Madison, is holding an organizational meeting today for volunteers interested in working on center projects. Activities range from serving as a friend to a foreign student or teaching Spanish to American elementary school children to hosting a reception for a visiting artist.

The center also sponsors a Tuesday luncheon colloquia series on current international events. The luncheons will be held weekly through Dec. 13. Participants can bring lunch or buy it at the center. Information on the weekly topic is available by calling 764-9310.
