House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski is an edited book of journaling about what could be considered a dissertation about a documentary about a house that's larger on the inside than it is on the outside. It's colorful, and I mean that literally, it's printed as a full-color version; the word house is always blue, for example.
It's hard to go into the plot without giving anything away, but this is a story that creeps into your bones from the first words, "This is not for you." The pages (pictured) in this book could have one word on it or could have different plot lines taking up two separate halves on the page. It's no light read, requiring one to take their time while reading it, but it's a worthwhile read.
