Joseph D. Sasaki, past governor of the district of Michigan of Optimist International, was named distinguished governor and the district declared an honor district, according to Gene H. Sterberg Sr., president.

The awards went to 24 of the 41 districts of Optimist International for the 1967-68 year, based on the individual clubs' accomplishments and public service programs.

Sasaki and his family live at 4320 Fresno Lane.
