AADL Five Star Library in 2021

For the 14th year in a row, the Ann Arbor District Library earned five stars in Library Journal’s annual ratings of public libraries across the nation. AADL has been a five-star library since Library Journal created the America Star Libraries ratings in 2008.

LJ's ratings are based on per capita output measures based on FY19 data from the Institute of Museum and Library Services Public Library Survey. Seven measures determined total scores and star ratings:

• Circulation of physical materials
• Circulation of electronic materials
• Library visits
• Library program attendance
• Public internet users
• WiFi sessions
• E-retrievals (usage of online content like databases)

In the State of Michigan, West Bloomfield Township Public Library and Kent District Library earned three-star rankings on LJ's list. See the full list of libraries earning stars here.

The AADL Staff are amazing! They are always welcoming, friendly, always so helpful and willing to help, hardworking, accommodating, kind, fair, actually I can't say enough fantastic things about the AADL Staff. Also, all the AADL branches are beautiful and a pleasure to hang out in. Each branch has its own uniqueness, i.e., ash bore tree trunks at Traverwood, the fireplace and huge space at Westgate, and all the other branches are beautiful and unique. Congratulations on the 5 Star Library Award, and I agree with other as well-deserved and, earned too for all your efforts to make it that way.
