Christine Sturges, Former Principal Here, Dies At 73
Miss Christine Sturges, 73, a principal of the former Donovan School and a prominent public school teacher here for 40 years, died yesterday at her home, 533 Elm St., following a long illness.
Miss Sturges was born on April 11, 1883, in Mansfield, O., the daughter of Eben B. and Clada Cook Sturges.
She came to Ann Arbor at the age of 20.
She was graduated from the University of Michigan and was a member of the Sara Browne Smith group of the Michigan Alumnae Club.
She was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an active member of the Descendants of the Mayflower Society.
She is survived by two sisters, Doris Sturges Kidd of Ann Arbor and Marchie Sturges Barnett of East Lansing.
Prayer services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Staffan-Hildinger Funeral Home. Dr. Henry Kuizenga will officiate at the prayer services.
Burial will be in Mansfield, O., on Thursday.
