School can be a stressful time for many students who are often challenged to manage multiple responsibilities. What are the opportunities for AI to provide support to students seeking help? How can AI increase the personalization of educational opportunities? Can AI help educators create more effective learning experiences? Join us for a conversation on how AI tools can be leveraged for student success while maintaining the privacy and security of student data. 

About the speakers: 

Xu Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Michigan. In her research, she develops computational methods and systems to support scalable teaching and learning. Specifically, one of her research goals is to empower instructors and educators to create effective learning experiences more easily. She builds teacher-support systems and learning at scale systems using human-AI collaborative approaches. 

Perry Samson is a Professor in the Department of Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering at the University of Michigan. He was the recipient of the 2021 University of Michigan “Distinguished Innovator Award” as co-founder of The Weather Underground, as well as two  educational technologies LectureTools and LearningClues which use AI to automatically generate study resources for students based on what was discussed in class.

This event is in partnership with the Michigan AI Lab.
