Of Memory, Time and Place

“One thing that is very clear to me is that my life and my work are very intertwined.” So begins Ruth Weisberg: Of Memory, Time and Place, an art exhibition at Stamps Gallery (201 S. Division Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104).

Ruth Weisberg: Of Memory, Time & Place brings together over 25 works that span six decades of the artist’s practice as a painter and printmaker. It features iconic works from Weisberg’s artistic career where she explored the interconnectedness and continuity of successive generations. Anchored in themes of personal and familial memory; ancestral knowledge embedded in her Jewish heritage, and admiration for Western art history, her unframed canvases, and works on paper create liminal spaces that collapse the time and space, where family, friends from the present and past share space with great painters and Holocaust survivors and those who perished.

This badge requires a trip to Stamps Gallery. The one and only clue for this badge will ask you to engage with the exhibition, answer a question, and relay that answer to the Stamps Gallery staff at the front desk. Every time I went they were closed and now exhibit is gone…is there any other way to get the codes?

This particular canvas normally hangs on my friend's mom's living room wall. (The artist's sister.) I wish I'd written it down there.
