Description

Sarah Sassoon and Ruth Behar will each share their children’s books, immigrant stories about tradition, family, and change. Joining us virtually, Sarah Sarah Sassoon will discuss her book Shoham’s Bangle. Joining us in person, Ruth Behar will read her book Tía Fortuna's New Home. A craft will be available for attendees to complete onsite or at home.

This event is in partnership with the Ann Arbor Jewish Book Festival and includes a signing with books for sale.

The two book covers are shown on a background of blue. Shoham's Bangle is an illustration of an older woman with a young girl, and they are rolling out dough with a rolling pin. Tia Fortuna's New Home is an illustration of an older woman with a young girl, with flowers and trees and clouds in the background.

Comments

Two hours is a long time for kids to sit for a program. What time should we come if we want to hear the stories read aloud?

I don’t think the event will actually last anywhere near two hours. I suggest coming at the beginning to be sure not to miss anything.

The two hours includes a break between the speakers if needed and time for crafts. We tentatively plan for Sarah's presentation at 11:10, then a break, and Ruth's presentation just before noon. This is subject to change based on turnout and how wiggly the audience is getting. Thanks for asking!
