Description
In Jack Cheng's new middle grade novel, The Many Masks of Andy Zhou, masks play a role in helping the main character to explore his own identities as a son/grandson, friend, Chinese American, and artist. For this event, Jack will lead a hands-on activity and a creative writing exercise that relate to the themes of the book.
Jack Cheng is a Shanghai-born, Detroit-based author of critically acclaimed fiction for young readers. His debut children’s novel, See You in the Cosmos, won the 2017 Golden Kite and Great Lakes, Great Reads awards for Best Middle Grade Fiction. He has visited schools around the world speaking with students about finding their paths as writers and artists. He is a 2019 Kresge Artist Fellow. His second middle grade novel, The Many Masks of Andy Zhou, is scheduled for release on June 6th, 2023.
