Description

Join us for an engaging presentation on the challenges and opportunities Ukraine faces in rebuilding its energy infrastructure amidst the ongoing war, with a focus on sustainability and resilience. Derrick Miller, Executive Director of Community Action Network, brings a unique perspective informed by his work locally on decarbonizing homes, implementing geothermal systems, and advancing sustainable energy utilities. While his humanitarian efforts with Ukrainian refugees and displaced persons provide valuable context, this presentation will center on how the conflict has devastated Ukraine’s energy systems and the strategies required to rebuild them. Derrick will explore the immediate impacts of the crisis, including power outages and heating challenges, and discuss how sustainable energy solutions, like those applied locally, can shape Ukraine’s long-term recovery and energy independence.

This event is provided by the Sierra Club.
