Super Search Ten!

Imagine a word-search, but you've got to figure out the words, too! Meet the SUPER SEARCH!

In this hexagonal grid, there are 36 hidden words (forwards, backwards, or diagonally) that fall under SIX categories. Circle the answers as you find them -- like with a traditional word-search, letters can be used in multiple words.

When you are finished, there will be 10 letters that aren't used in any words, which, when written in order, will give you your final code.

Your SIX word categories (with six words each): Asian Capitals, Noodle Dishes, Mononymous Celebrities (go by one name), Sports Equipment, Presidents who were also Vice President (last name), and Animals at the Binder Park Zoo (Note: This is easily google-able. We used the simplest version of animal names, so the puzzle could contain GAZELLE rather than ADDRA GAZELLE)

All words have at least 3-letters, are not plural, and do not use abbreviations. No words are contained entirely within other words.

Learn more about how to solve these puzzles!

Here's a printer-friendly version. (You definitely want to print these puzzles, or stop by the library and we're happy to print them for you!)

Individual letters, inside triangular shaped boxes that nestle together to make a full puzzle grid of letters.

You saved the best for last! This was so fun!

I'm going to miss these puzzles. I hope they come back next year.

Thank you so very much for the Super Search Puzzles - they've become a favorite Friday festivity for me and my daughter! Today's was a bit trickier than the rest - so much fun,
Mary

This one was MUCH trickier. We had to use a Wikipedia list, and banged our head multiple times against the *almost*-correct spelling of a mostly-but-not-exclusively-first-name celebrity.

I gave up after puzzle three last year, but this summer I finished all 10 of them! Thanks for a great series! I'm hoping to see them again next year!!

I'm really going to miss these puzzles! Is there any place online (or a book?) of similar style puzzles? Or is this an AADL exclusive creation?

I'm so glad you enjoy them! While not ENTIRELY an AADL exclusive, they can't really be found anywhere else (that we've found)! In the New York Times Annual Puzzle Insert in 2022, there was a Super Search on the cover written by Will Shortz. When I did it and loved it, I tried to find more and had no luck; making them myself has been the next best thing! We'll be having a "Learn to Make a Super Search" program on Saturday September 14 (https://aadl.org/node/627791) if you'd like to come and try your hand at making one yourself! Thanks for puzzling!!!!

I'd like to see these again! Very challenging and fun. Often the first badge I work on! Thanks for all your hard work!

Super Search Puzzle #10 is beating my butt. Artists w one name and Asian Capitals could be almost anything! Go AADL♥️

I'd drop a lot of points if a booklet of past the Super Searches showed up in the summer game shop next year. I got hooked this year but completely missed out last year!
