I had a good laugh at clue #2 - look closely and you'll see this is a photo of a farmer selling and a customer buying TOMATOES not POTATOES! You can see the stem end of the lovely, round tomato in the woman's hand and in some of the tomatoes in the baskets on the table. You can also peel a tomato, though... ;-)

I loved the last picture, even as I worried about screening the prospective pet owners. My family got a free puppy at the grocery store in California in 1969. These girls were giving away kittens in 1969, too. (But not currantly, pun appreciated.)

They keep publishing people's home addresses in the newspaper. I wonder when they stopped. The world must have felt so much safer back then.
