Bordersland

LocAAtion, locAAtion, locAAtion!!! In honor of Ann Arbor's bicentennial, this badge series focuses on some of the past and present landmarks that makes Ann Arbor...well, ANN ARBOR!! Summer Game artist Mario Zucca created a brilliant map of the city we all love but may not fully know...YET!

From the 70s to the aughts, when you needed a bookstore, you knew where to look. Ann Arbor was a real, well, BORDERSland.

In 2002 I waited in line for a John Mayer signing at Borders and then went across the street to his concert at The Michigan Theater. The good old days!

Clue 1: BORDER should probably have a capital “S” for the clue. Nothing comes up without the s added in.

Yup! We included the "s" so folks would know they need to use it for the clue, but kept it lowercase because of the pun! Thanks for this tip in the comments for anyone who might be confused by our punning!! (And thanks for playing!)

I still miss Borders from when it was on State Street. Receiving a gift certificate from there as a present always made me so happy. There and Schoolkids Records.....

I miss Borders, though I was still in elementary school when it closed! This was such a fun idea for a badge. I only recently discovered Borders was founded in Ann Arbor!

I still miss Borders! The first time I went there was when I was 5 years old and they were still on State Street. I loved the Liberty Street store, but the one on State Street was my favorite.

I'm still in mourning, borders was an amazing store and I miss it deeply along with Shaman Drum. So many dates, the last Harry Potter book release party...and oh to go in there during art fair was so fun. I wish it was still here.

Hi Monika! You'll want to do a Local History Search for a Photo (you can select both of those using the search dropdowns). From there, search for the name of the business this badge is about and another word for "siblings" that also starts with the letter B. That should get you there! Thanks for playing!!

My first job was at borders, I was hired at 12yo (1982) to write a book review column for their newsletter. I was paid in book credits, AND got to keep the books I read to review!! Best job ever!

Hi there! You're SO close!! I'm editing your comment because you have the right answer and we don't want to give it away. All you're missing is an 's' after the first word! Do that and you'll find that code in no time! :)
Thanks for playing!!
