Block Rocker
We've got a special Bicentennial surprise for you: BICENTENNIAL BLOCKS!
Each AADL Location now has its own set of 29 cardboard boxes, printed to look like 7 historic Ann Arbor Buildings! Each building has information about the history of the building printed on the top, including its address, date of construction, architect, and name.
7 of these 29 blocks also have a 50-point GAME CODE in a little black oval near the bottom of one of the top surfaces of a block. Each of the 7 buildings has one block that features a code.
Find all 7 codes to complete this badge and ROCK THE BLOCK(S)!
Hoping to have your own tiny set of these awesome historical papercraft marvels? Stay tuned for updates!
Can't make it to the library to play with blocks? You can also find the 7 codes in 7 relatively recent photos of these 7 buildings in our Local History collection.
The Bicentennial Blocks Illustrations were produced for AADL by Honeybee Creative.

I cannot find code #2 in the catalog, I've searched everything! Can I get a hint?

Sure, if you search Local History for Goodyear's, and limit the type to photo, and the date to 2020-2024, you'll find it easily! Of course, you could just go to the library and find it even easier on one of the blocks....
Thanks!
Thanks!
This badge made me realize…
This badge made me realize that the local history photos are not searchable by photographer or subject, which seems pretty nonfunctional. I had to use google to find the last one on aadl.org
You're right that photos…
You're right that photos aren't necessarily indexed by Photographer or subject at this point, but just searching local history photos for Burton Tower 2020 will get you there pretty quickly! Thanks for playing!
Sorry, it wasn't the last…
Sorry, it wasn't the last one - it was Hill Auditorium. It seems to be unfindable using the library website.
Ah, gotcha! The year filter…
Ah, gotcha! The year filter is a big help here; if you search Local History for Hill Auditorium, and then limit your results to photos between the years 2020-2024, it'll come right up. Thanks for your patience, and sorry for the trouble!
Thanks for your tips! I…
Thanks for your tips! I thought I was doing that but I think I neglected to click the little box that says "Limit to Years." D'oh!
I didn’t write down a code…
I didn’t write down a code correctly but I don’t want to necessarily give away the clue (and I don’t remember which building block it was). Any suggestions on how I could get the correct one entered? Thank you!

Hi there, each code can also be found on our website; look at the clue of the code you're missing above to figure out where to find it in our Local History collection. Or, feel free to use https://aadl.org/contactus and choose Summer Game and we can help you out! Thanks for playing!
I can't find the second code…
I can't find the second code in the catalog or on the blocks. Can you help me?

Hi there! If you search the Local History collection for "100 Block", your code will be with a photo by Steve Jensen! :)
I hope that helps and thanks for playing!!
