Description

Trinitario cacao is a hybrid that was developed in the 18th century that resulted from crossing two native South American cocoa trees: Criollo and Forastero. Criollo is appreciated for its aromatic qualities, whereas Forastero is known for robustness and bitterness. Venezuela’s unique terroir brings out the best in both types of cocoa.

Flavors expressed by Trinitario cacao from Venezuela are best experienced in graduated percentages. This allows a taster to savor cacao in meaningful and memorable ways. The Chocolates El Rey® tasting flight at Taste & Tell will begin with white chocolate followed by percentages of cacao ranging from 34% to 73.5%.

Attendees will develop a language for chocolate flavor. In addition, they’ll be able to apply knowledge acquired at Taste & Tell to build on chocolate appreciation on their own or with friends.

Taste & Tell is led by Michelle Krell Kydd, a trained nose in flavors and fragrance who shares her passion for gastronomy, sensory evaluation, and the perfume arts in Glass Petal Smoke. Taste & Tell builds community through interactions with flavor, fragrance and storytelling.

Smell & Tell sessions are presented to an in-person audience via a live Zoom presentation by Michelle Krell Kydd. Scents and other materials are provided to in-person attendees.

We'll make every effort to accommodate as many attendees as possible, but seating and supplies for this event are limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
