Description
Come and learn about the Swahili language of East Africa and what makes it unique. Did you know it categorizes everything in the world into 9 noun classes? It has lots of sounds that English lacks? It shows the history of contacts with other languages like Arabic, Portuguese, and Hindi? This is not a language tutorial, but you will learn a few basic words and phrases in Swahili.
Presented by UM Lecturer of Afroamerican and African Studies Magdalyne Akiding.
