Description
Ann Arbor High School, founded in 1856 as Union School, would not produce its first yearbook until 1884, when the Omega printed its inaugural volume. Since, its yearly release has chronicled the lives of Ann Arbor High students and faculty. Its pages offer a time capsule of each era’s popular activities, sports, styles of dress, and unique dialects. In its pages, countless names and faces, written words and illustrations give a glimpse into trends of the past. Despite some glaring differences, many facets of the human experience represented in the first 50 years of the Omega are not so different from ours today. This exhibit features only a small percentage of the pages printed from 1885-1935, the curated selections telling as much about the past as they do the present moment.
