Washtenaw County Jury Board Takes Oath, April 1969

The county's first Jury Board was called into session immediately after taking the oath of office yesterday in Washtenaw County Circuit Court. Board members are from (left) Donald M. Silkworth of 935 Pleasant Drive, Ypsilanti, Mrs. Richard M. (Joyce) Chesbrough of 3176 Lakewood Drive, and Cornelius Reeves Jr. of 2760 Appleridge Lane, Superior Township. Standing with them is County Clerk Robert M. Harrison. The oath was administered by Circuit Judge John W. Conlin (left on the bench). Judge William F. Ager Jr. (right) termed the jury system "the very bulwark of our democratic system." Ager spoke during the swearing-in ceremonies.
