U-M Center for Japanese Studies
Did you know Ann Arbor is home to the oldest center in the United States devoted to Japanese Studies? The Center for Japanese Studies (CJS) at the University of Michigan was founded in 1947 and recently celebrated its 75th anniversary! CJS serves the University of Michigan campus community, organizes free events open to the general public, and encourages the study of Japan among a new generation of students! In addition to offering free lectures and special events during the school year, CJS partners with AADL and other local organizations for Ann Arbor Japan Week every June. If you didn’t get to join in on the fun this year, no worries! CJS invites you to join them next year for a week of free performances, crafts, and demonstrations suitable for all ages. And, did we mention that CJS has their own mascot?
