'Ssëcoaftémpt ío obtain I the necessary zoning to I lish a "Gallery of Shops" at j Green and Plymouth Rds. is j now under way. The proposal was advanced in May by Jacobson's and tin Halier Furniture Co. At that time a change in the Cl local business zoning district was sought to include furniture stores. The property is zoned Cl and the proposed amendment to that district was rejected by the City Council. When it was turned down, developers were told they could seek a zoning change from Cl to C3 commerical which would permit the "Gallery of Shops." A public hearing on the proposed rezoning was conducted by the City Planning Commission night. No one spoke at the hearing. Commission action on the proposed change is expected Sept. 22. Jacobson's and Martin Halier plan a 60,000 square foot establishment which would include various shops selling furniture and decorative assessories. In other business last night, the commission deferred for two weeks a decisión on the second phase site plan for Tra ver Knoll apartments. The deferral was the result of commission members wanting more information on an on-site inspected of plans to relocate easterly Traver Creek. Commissioner Douglas D. Crary questioned whether adequate safeguards are included for the relocation, noting that it would move the stream closer to the railroads tracks and erosión could undermine those tracks.
