City Council is expected to confirm the choice of a Minnesota man Monday night as the city's new planning director. Council will act on the appointment of Martin W. Overhiser, 33, who was recommended by the Planning Commission last week with no opposing votes. Overhiser, a Michigan State University graduate, is currently director of community planning and development for Plymouth, Minn., a suburb of Minneapolis with about 24,000 people. His appointment to the $25,000-ayear position will be effective June 17. He will replace.former planning director Micfyael ' chaska,' who resigned last August. After receiving his bachelor of science degree in urban planning from MSU, Overhiser was assistant director of planning in Battle Creek until 1968. He then became planning director of Calhoun County, Mich. He held that position until going to Minnesota in 1971. A native of South Haven, Overhiser is a registered professional community planner.
