Cappaert Sends Hare Protest Letter
LeRoy A. Caípaert, a dele-I gate to the Democratie National íonvention, has sent a letter to Secretary of State James Hare protesting Hare's dismissal ofl two employés with differingl views on the presidential nom-l inee. Cappaert, Fifth Ward City Council member, said in the letter: "I find this action, if reported accurately, to be repulsive and absolutely contrary to the open convention desired by Michigan Democrats." He added, "It is well known that through your elective position and your role in the party your words and actions carry much weight. You are very influential. In all fairness, you shouldi notify the Michigan delegation to the Democratie National Convention that it is your position that the price of voting their conscience . . . will not be unlemployment." Copies of the letter were also sent to State Democratie Chairman Sander Levin and Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey. Cappaert is supporting Sen. Eugene McCarthy for the nomlination. j
