Marijuana Study Backed
The Ann Arbor Democratie party at its regular meeting last night adopted the following resolution, according to Chairman Walter Scheider: "We support the suggestion made by Sen. Hart that the surgeon general undertake a comprehensive study of the effects of marijuana. The question of whether, for regulatory purposes, marijuana belongs with alcoholic beverages or with addictive or harmful drugs should be resolved. The credibility of the law's present view on marijuana has come into question; the large scale violation of the law and the harsh but often selective enforcement of it are producing political and social consequences which are increasingly dangerous. The need for conclusive research and legislation consistent with its findings is urgent."
