Drug Crisis Center Idea Proposed
Thei establishment ín Ann Arbor of e youth-oriented Drug Crisis Intervention Center has been recommended to Mayor Robert J. Harris by the Citizens Committee on Drug Abuse. In a report to the mayor, committee chairman William J. Pierce urges City Council to give such a center "adequate housing and financial support so it could carry out a 24-hour a day operation," handling walkin crisis situations and providing information about drug addictlon. Pierce said the committee is "convinced that the problem is sufficiently large in magnitude" to justify a facility that would give immediate, emergency aid to persons having adverse reactions to drugs. He said the drug crisis I ter would be operated by tjained volunteers, and that pscyhiatric b a c k u p services would also be available.
