The Am Arbor Democratie 'Party passed a resolution Thursday night strongly condemning the pending repeal of the city's marijuana ordinance by City Council Republican members. The resolution places the party on record as saying the repeal is a "cyincal political attempt to appeal to an outspoken minority at the expense of reason and the interests of the majority of residents who favor this drug law reform." The ordinance was originally passed into law with the support of Democrats and the Human Rights Party. A resolution to repeal the ordinance in favor of the stricter state drug law has been approved at first meeting. Sometime folLowing a public hearing June 9 final action will be taken by council. The Democrats, at their general meeting Thursday night, also passed a resolution reaffirming their support of boycott of grapes and lettuce, and endorsing a boycott of all A&P grocery stores which they said is continuing to use grapes and lettuce picked by nonunion workers in California and Arizona.
