A vacancy "in the office of superintendent beginning July 1, 1971, has been officially announced by the Ann Arbor Public Schools. The initial appointment will be for a term of three years and the salary will be competitive, school board officials say. Letters of application shouM be supported by references and a biographical sketch, school officials said. The board will begin to process and evalúate applications on March 1, but consideration will be given to late applications. The individual selected for the position should be "humane and wise in assisting a progressive community to formúlate its educational goals and to evalúate conflicts between them. He or she should possess sufficient administrative talent to lead a complex organization vigorously toward such goals." According to the announcement, "he or she should be warm and articúlate in píaimni the orgamzation, its 1 goals and its problems to a very demanding public and j he or she should have the internal strength to cope with frustration, conflict, and criticism." The school board hopes the appointment can be announced by May 15, 1971.
