Dr. Westerman Is Candidate For EMU Post

It ws learned today that Dr. W Scott Westerman Jr. is one of nine candidatos Eor the newly created position of chairman of the department of curriculum and instruction at Eastern Michigan University. Westerman, whose resignation as I perintendent of the Ann Arbor School I District is effective June 30, declined to I comment on his candidacy except to say he is currently inquiring into several I positions. "I have no commitment to anyone nor does anyone have .-. commitment to me," said Westerman. The decisión to créate a department of curriculum and instruction within the College of Education was made by the EMU Board of Regents this month. The department will be formed July 1, providing that a department chairman has been found by that time. Next week, a selection committee from Eastern will be interviewing several candidates for the position at a national convention in Chicago. Following the interviews the candidates will be screened and I some of them invited to the campus for a more extensive interview with the administration and members of the proposed Hopartment. m
