A Pioneer High Schööl student, charged with malicious destruction of property following vandalism at the school last September, has been cleared by an Ann Arbor District Court jury. Chad D. Gray, 17 ,of 1204 E. University Ave., was found not guilty by a sixperson jury. Gray was one of several students arrested following the rampage at Pioneer. Black students blamed the incident on what they termed was a lack of action in hiring more black teachers and counselors at the school. During the trial, held before District Court Judge Pieter G. V. Thomassen, Assistant Prosecutor Lynwood Noah called as witnesses Pioneer High School Principal Theodore Rokicki and City Pólice Detectives Paul Bunten and Bernard Price. Gray took the stand in his own defense. He was defended by Frederick McDonald of Ypsilanti.
