A rersolution that ít become xne puucy of the Board of Education that no new junior or senior high schools will be constructed until the need for such I struction can be supported by full utilitzation of existing buildings was approved last night at the board's regular meeting. Presented by Trustee Paul Carrington, the resolution indicated that no action concerning the construction of a 6th junior high or a 3rd senior high be made until the existing facilities were being used fully. "Every secondary school building should seek to enlarge its capacity by means by any scheduling method which I would assure fuller utilization of buildings without significant jeopardy to the educational program or to f amily relationships," Carrington said in the resolution. "Split shift programs requiring very early or very late afternoon hours cannot be regarded as other than makeshift arrangements," he said. The resolution says: "ExperimentaItion with other more durable schedules lis now in order. In addition, those Ichanges in program which would lincrease utilization of facilities outside Ithe schools on a regular basis should be Igiven prompt and sympathetic considerlation. The superintendent is asked to Imake a progress report o n the limplementation of this policy about June 11." Following the approval of this last agenda item, Board President Harold iLockett announced, "I will not be runIning for a third term on the School I Board," and then adjourned the meetI ing.
