At tlié Ann Arbor Board of Education briefing session last night, a proposal to continue the Diversified Cooperative Occupational Educational Program for the l971-72 school year was presented by Samuel Thornton, coördinator, and Earl Shaffer, director of occupational education. The program, which was established last September by the board, is aimed at assisting secondary students with financial and or educational disadvantages. It was proposed that the program be continued for next year and I $1,780 be allocated as the district's hare of the cost of the program. The state reimburses 90 per cent of the total cost for the $17,800 program. Planner-Exqediter Sooren I Gozmanian presented the proI gress report on Clague Junior I High School. He reported to I the board that the fifth junior I high is scheduled for compleI tion by January, 1972. O u Bach School Principal Florence Qasdick and representatives from the Bach School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) committee presented a 1 plan for the development of 1 the Bach playground. o o A resolution by the Slauson PTO was presented to the board: "The Slauson PTO Board expresses deep concern over the decisión of the Ann Arbor Board of Education to again c.ommence school before the Labor weekend." o o A representative from the Senior Citizen's Guild board, Arthur Yost, interrupted last night's briefing session during comments from the audience concerning an agenda item. He told the board that his group had three demands that they wanted met as soon as possible and "time is running out for us and for tnis board." The senior citizen was tnen told by Board President Harold Lockett that he was out of order but that his concerns would be discussed by the board and the Senior uüzens at a later date. One of the requests was for a separate facility.
