Moving expenses for three administrators were approved last night by the Board of Education. The total cost to the board was $4,457.88. The administrators are Forsythe Principal Fred Leonard; Director of Curriculum Planning Steven Daniels; and Director of Finance William Wade. Leonard's moving expenses from San Mateo, Calif., totaled $3,102.62. Daniel's move from Philadelphia cost $664.15, and Wade's relocation from L i v o n i a was $691.11. Trustee Ted Heusel commented that these costs for relocation were below the average because the administrators had done much of the packing themselves. Answering several questions from the audience concerning this policy, board members said definite limits had been Iset for expenses. I Board President Cecil Warner also exIplained that although he had indicated learlier that he would not approve Wade's costs, he changed his mind after finding out that Wade had made an effort to move himself but because of teacher negotiations he was unable to move. Wade was part of the board's team for the contract settlement talks and was unable to leave the sessions during the time he was scheduled to move out. An addendum to the policy was also approved. It says that "in order to be considered by the board for compensation related to moving costs, an emploee must complete moving to Ann Arbor within 12 months of his or her initial date of employment. With this qualification, administrators who live within commuting distance of Ann Arbor will be eligible for possible relocation compensation should he or she later desire to move into the district. According to School Supt. R. Bruce McPherson, thëre are still some unfilled positions in the administration and "as usual we are seeking qualified applicants outside as well as within the district." A total of $12,000 was budgeted for this policy. Before last night's costs were approved, $6,000 had been used from this fund.
