School Discusses Use Of Medication
A recommendation fór the administering of medication to students was discussed last night by the Ann Arbor Board of Education. According to the proposed policy, the only medication given internally at school are prescription drugs accompanied by written permission from a physician. The school nurse, whenever possible, should administer the medicine to the' students. ín no case should a staff member recommend, prescribe, or require medication. Staff rules are limited to providing assistance or supervision in administering prescribed medications at school. The health records of the child should indicate the administration of the medication by the nurse to be furnished to the physician. The board will vote on approving the policy at the next meeting.
