The Student Council at Huron High School has set up a Rumor Control Center at the school to try and head off racial troubles. A. Javier Ergueta, Student Council president, said the Council felt the center was something that was greatly needed "for the duration of the crisis in area schools." Ergueta said it was the Student Council's idea to set up the center, and it was precipitated by "the troubles we heard of at Pioneer High. We hope to set it up on a permanent basis." Ergueta said " responsible students," both black and white, are manning the center, and that it has been approved by Principal Paul Meyers. It went into operation about 1 p.m. yesterday. The center is using an office in the administration wing, near the attendance office. "Quite a few students have been coming in," said Ergueta. The center may be reached by telephoning 769-3200, extensions 303 or 304 at anytime between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
