LANSING- A recent poll show that 17 per cent of the newly eligible 18 to 21 years olds in Washtenaw County have actually registered to vote. According to the poll taken by the Michigan Democratic Party, 5,000 of the county's 28,238 young persons have taken advantage of their new franchise. The state-wide poll including 14 indusrial counties shows fewer than one adult out of five in the 18-to-20-year-old group has registered. Ingham County, the home of Michigan State University, had the highest youth registration with 31.5 per cent registered Muskegon County had the lowest of those polled with only two per cent.
