Meeting Dropped

Board of Education members voted last night to elimínate the meeting on the fourth Wednesday of each month. According to the recommendation from School Supt. R. Bruce McPherson, which was approved, the board will meet only three times each month. Under the new arrangement the first and third Wednesday of each month would be both a regular and briefing session. The second Wednesday would be a briefing session and the briefing session for the fourth Wednesday would be deleted. "I believe t h i s schedule wouíd accomplish several expressed objectives. First we would have sufficient regular and briefing meetings to reach decisions in reasonable time periods. Second, matters requiring extensive discussion will be allotted such time," said McPherson. He also said the elimination of one meeting per month will give the board members and administration more time to adequately prepare and peruse information related to decision-making at the board 1 e v e 1 . Executive sessions, whenever feasible, would be set for late afternoon.
