I Negotiating teams tot the Board of Education and the Ann lArbor Teachers Association will kneet in an all - day bargaining Jsession next Tuesday in hopes lof mosing closer to a settleIment. "We've still got a long way to go," AATA President Donald Newsted sáid last night a f t e r 'revealing plans of the negotiators to meet next week. The decisión to meet beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday was made during a baTgaining sion last night - the first session for the Board of Education's new negotiating team. Heading that team as chief negotiator was School Supt. W. Scott Westerman Jr. Other members of the bargaining team aré Personnel Director Thad Carr and Richard Creal, administrative assistant to Westerman. The session marked the first time a member of the school board has not served on the bargaining team. A consultant team from Indiana University recently recommended that the team be made up of members of the school district's administration. The membership of the new negotiating team is scheduled to be confirmed by the school board when it meets tonight, Westerman reported last night. Newsted said the bargaining teams agreed "on a few minor economie items" last night, but he declined to elabórate. Westerman said both s i d e s "had recognized a need to meet much more frequently." Carr was elected to chair the I bargaining sessions, Newsted and Westerman reported.
