School oells began chiming this morning ior the first of Arm Arbor's elementary and secondary school students to return to the classroom. Full-day classes began at 8:30 a.m. today for University School's elementary and junior high students. The high school is no longer in existence. At St. Francis and St. Thomas Catholic schools, halfday sessions are scheduled to begin Tusday, Sept. 3. St. Francis students will attend school f rom 8:20 a.m. to 11:55 yrTuesday through day. A Ml day of class is scheduled for next Friday, from 8:20 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. St. Thomas Elementary School students will attend hali-day sessions, from 8:15 to 11 a.m., from T.uesday, Sept. 3, through Sept. 6. The high schooiers will also attend half-days during that period, from 9 a.m .to noon. Fuii-day sessions begin Monday, Sept. 9, for all St. Thomas students. Redeemer Lutheran's 32 students will report to' class Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 8:30 a.m. The first Ml day of classes is Thursday, Sept. 5, for the students at Pioneer and Huron Highs, St. Paul's Lutherau, and Greenhills School. Greenhills students should report at 8:25 a.m., while classes start at St. Paul's at 8:30 a.m. Pioneer students begin school at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 5, while their Huron High colleagues begin at 1 p.m. A doublé shift will be instituted this fall for all public highschool students in the Pioneer High building. All elementary-school dents in the Ann Arbor Public Schools are expectedto report the morning of Friday, Sept. 6. First-graders will attend half-day sessions Sept. 6 through Sept. 19. The city's four public junior highs- Slauson, Forsythe, T a p p a n and Scarlett- will open their dcors at 8:05 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9. Kindergarteners attending the city's public schools attend their first day of classes either Monday, Sept. 9 or Tuesday, Sept. 10, depending on which day they are assigned.
