The authorization of a special committee to review dress and grooming policies f o r the secondary schools in the Ann Arbor School System will highlight today's 7:30 p.m. meeting of the Board of Education, to bë held at the Administrative Offices. 1220 Wells. The committee idea is the outgrowth of the dissatisfaction expressed by some students and parents last week at Ann Arbor High School' s grooming policies. The suspension of three male students for violating the schools' grooming policies led to a threatened student walkout and a protest by about 25 parents at last week's school board meeting. A delegation from Pioneer High School also is slated to address the board on a requested change of policy regarding the distribution of literature in the high school. A recent resolution passed by the Pioneer High Student Council asks the Board of Education to re-examine its present policy, which forbids the distribution of unauthorized literature on school grounds. Other scheduled agenda items include : - Ëatification of a contract between the Board of Education and Local 1182, Michigan Council 55 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employés; - Authorization to commit up to $360,000 to develop plans for the planned third senior high school. The money would come f rom the schools' building fund; -Authorization to develop a plan for more effective parking and recreation at the Jones Building.
