F o u r resignations of the professional staff members were accepted by the Ann Arbor Board of Education last night. They are Mrs. Georgia Boyse, Pittsfield School; Mrs. Grace Dixon, Jones Pre-school; Mrs. Edith Foley, Tappan, and Mrs. Gretchen Hamann, Bader. Two appointments were also approved. o o Two parents asked the Board of Education last night to request that the appropriate government agencies build sidewalks or bicycle paths along Newport Ed. and along Geddes Rd. between Awixa and the bridge. Dr. Giles Bole, formerly president of the Newport School Parent-Teacher Organization and now second vice president, further asked the board to form a special Citizens' Committee to express the parents' concerns on the "hazard" faced by Newport children, and children from other schools when walking to school because of the lack of sidewalks. o o The contract negotiated recently between the Board of Education and Local 1182, Michigan Council 55 American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees was unanimously ratified by the school board. It was nearly unanimously ratified two weeks ago by the union. o o The school board approved the allocation of funds up to the amount of $360,000 to develop plans for the third senior high school. The money will come from remaining dollars in the $18 million building fund approved by the voters in 1965. Supt. W. Scott Westerman Jr. said he will immediately begin conferences with the appointed architect - the firm of Linn Smith, Demiene and Adams. Westerman previously intended to include the $360,000 in the three-part bonding issue which will probably be set for Dec. 18.
