Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School will not open in February as scheduled, the Ann Arbor Board of Education learned last night. Sooren Gozmanian, plannerexpediter for the Ann Arbor Public Schools, told the trustees in briefing session that because of a series of delays and construction and site problems, the school will not open in February. One of the main delays, Gozmanian said, was the threemonth construction strike last spring and summer. The school is located at thé intersection of Green Rd. and Glacier Way. Gozmanian. did not give a new date for completion. The planner-expediter also told the school board it will be announced Dec. 4 whether Huron High School will open in February. He refused to speculate on the contractor's decisión but said in past weeks progress at the new high school has been "more discouraging than encouraging." School Supt. W. Scott Westerman Jr. added that unless all the academie wings at Huron High - including the library and administrative offices- are ready for occupancy in February, the school will not open until fall.
