A proposal ío establish the position of assistant principal at Ann Arbor's four junior high schools was presented last night to the Ann Arbor Board of Education. During the briefing session which followed the regular meeting, the trustees were told the new position would in effect be a re-assignment of duties. One counselor would be removed f r o m each junior high, and would be replaced by an assistant principal. Each school presently has four counselors. The assistant principal would take the place of the principal when the latter is away from the school. Dr. Roland J. Lehker, principal of Slauson Junior High, and School Supt. W. Scott Westerman discussed the proposal, saying a great many school districts have assistant principáis I in the junior highs. Trustee Cecil W. Warner expressed fears that the assistant principal would handle nothing but discipline problems. A s p e c i f i c administrative I recommendation will be preI sented soon.
