Ann Arbor School Trustee Joseph T. A. Lee, whose term expires this June, will not run for a second term. - T h a t announcement was made for him last night by School Board President Harold J. Lockett. Lee was ill and did not attend last night's meeting. No reasons were given for Lee's decisión. The term of Lee, Vice President Charles H. Good and Trustee Paul H. Johnson all expire in June. Good announced last week he will seek re-election. Johnson has not yet made public his decisión. All three were first elected to the board in 1967. Lee, a professor, of architecture at the University, is a registered architect. He holds degrees in engineering and architecture from the U-M and Columbia University. Budget Hearing Set Wednesday A public budget hearing on School Supt. W. Scott Westerm a n's proposed $25,195,196 budget for 1970-71 will be held next Wednesday, it was nounced last night at the Ann Arbor Board of Education meeting. The public session is expected to be held at' 7:30 p.m. The place will be announced next week. If the proposed budget is accepted by the school board, an operational millage issue of 3.73 milis probably will be set by the trustees on April 22. The millage issue, along withfive bonding propositions, will probably be on the June 8 ballot. Other Items In Brief Fourteen sabbatical leaves for either one semester or the entire 1970-71 school year were approved last night by the Board of Education, along w i t h 13 resignations. School Supt. W. Scott Westerman Jr. said several more sabbaticals probably will be recommended next week, but the maximum of 24 allowed by the teachers' contract will not be filled. To be granted a sabbatical leave, the teacher must be undertaking a program- usually a formal study program - which will benefit the school district. Those on leave for one semester receive full salary; for the entire year, half salary. The following staff members will receive sabbaticals during 1970-71: Arthur Armstrong, Pioneer High, second semester; Thomas Bahe, Stone and Eberwhite, first semester; Josephine Carter, Mack, second semester; Willard Cummings, Huron High, second semester; Mary Virginia Ellis, Pioneer High, full year ; Dianne Hindershott, Slauson, full year; P h y 1 1 i s Hinterman, Pioneer High, first semester; Mary Francés cobson, first semester; Mervil Miller, Pioneer High, first semester; Nancy Neale, Mack, first semester; M a r y Oas, Pioneer High, ' first semester; Dr. G. Ann Preston, pupil personnel, second semester; Vel tajean Olson, Burns Park, second semester; Doris Sperling, Carpenter, Ml year. o o A Building Industry program for Ann Arbor Public School students was unanimously approved. The program, which will feature the construction of a house by pupils under professional supervisión, is expected to begin in September. o o A gift of $1,000 from Delta Sigma Theta sorority for the purchase of books, periodicals and other materials for the Black Studies collection of the Ann Arbor Public Library was accepted with thanks.
