Twelve resignations from th professional staff w e r approved by the school board These included the resignation of Tappan Junior High Schoo! Principal Gene Maybee, effective Oct. 2. The employment of six new staff members also was approved, along with one leave of absence. o o Approval was given to apply for federal funds to continue the Compensatory Education program for the Ann Arbor Public Schools in 1970-71. The funds come from the Title I provisión of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The funds would pay for a preschool project, kindergarten project, and tutorial program, plus in-service training of staff. Authorization was given to destroy a large number of canceEed bonds and coupons currently stored in the Ann Arbor School District's vault. This is allowed by the Bond Crema tion Act of 1962. o o A resolution offered by Vice f' I President Charles H. Good was passed, urging the Michigan and National Associations oí School Boards to allow board members to serve on such board after the termination of service on local boards. That service would begin no later than two years after retirement and they could serve no longer than 10 years after retirement from the local board, according to the resolution. Presently, one must be a ocal board member to serve on the MASB or NASB. u o Several gifts totaling $351.92 were accepted with thanks from the Haisley School PTO. Phey were two folding chairs, ive cassette recorders, five cassettes and two pieces of Eskimo art. O n _ Eight changes in administrative titles and duties were approved. The recommendations were made by the Ernst and Ernst firm of Detroit. They re Dr. Richard C. Creal, h-om ssistant to the superintendent ör administrative services to assistant superintendent f o r planning and administrative services; Dr. John W. Hubley from assistant to the superintendent for community services to assistan't superintendent for community services; Ivan L. Bare, from director of grant programs to director of governmental relations; the director of human relations (position now vacant) will be changed to human relations ombudsman; Gerald R. Neff, from assistant superintendent for finance to associate superintendent for business and finance; Dr. Sam M. Sniderman from assistant superintendent for instruction to associate superintendent for instruction; Miss Jean Henne from elementary-secondary consultant to director of elementary education; Ronald S I Puddock, from project assistant to assistant for instruction I services.
