Westerman Has Emergency Appendectomy

W Scott Westerman Jr., superintendent of the Ann Arbor Public Schools, was rushed to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for an emergency appendectomy last night after complaining of feeling ill. Westerman, 45, was listed in satisfactory condition this morning and is expected to return home by the end of the week, according to John Hubley ïnformation officer for the public schools. Westerman had just returned home from a weekend meeting of the Michigan Association of School Administrators at Mackinac Island when he was stricken. He had served as program chairman at the meeting.
