The Annfflor Board oP Education last night was requested to take immediate steps to give the specific socio-economic goals for the enrollment of Clinton I and Clinton II. This request was made by numerous parents and members of the New Southeast Elementary School Principal Selection Committee in the Clinton school attendance area. Clinton parents also asked the board to define what other steps are being taken to achieve similar percentages of racial and soeio-economic nüxesthroughout the rest of the s?ho6l SystemT Improvements suggested for the proposed magnet plan of special and supportive programs for Clinton II included limiting the building capacity and specifying more clearly the educational services which will be available. "The Clinton community is becoming increasingly disturbed at the general failure to provide channels for meaningful decision-making," said one member of the audience. Because of an overcrowded situation at Clinton, a new school was approved to be built in the same attendance afea. A temporary facility, however, is being erected in the interim until the new school is completed in 1973. Because the two schools will serve the same population now attending Clinton, there is concern that the two schools have a similar racial and socio-economic makeup. o o A review of the health services in the school system was given by Hazel Turner, director of pupil personnel, and during board discussion it was suggested that more attention should be given to venereal disease education in the schools. It was pointed out that this problem of venereal disease has become wide spread in the county. o o Gifts accepted last night by the board included $50 from the Zonta Club of Ann Arbor to the Mary Ellen Lewis Scholarship Fund; $300 from the Stone School PTO for the purchase of three record players; and $275 from the Lawton School PTO for the purchase and installation of a I televisión antenna.
